On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court, with its Roe v. Wade decision, overturned abortion laws throughout the United States. The judges, who voted for abortion, asserted that the Constitution required that abortionists be permitted to ply their grim trade.
Nearly everyone, then and now, even those who support abortion, fully understands that a right to abortion does not exist in the Constitution. Such a right is a fiction, written to force on the country a policy that would never be allowed by democratic votes of the people.
In time, Roe v. Wade will end. History proves that great evils always end eventually. Sadly, the list of victims is long, already over 55 million, and that figure does not include the women who are, indeed, victims just as surely as the babies.
Posterity will remember Harry Blackmun as America’s Grim Reaper. It is a legacy he fully deserves.
