On April 23rd, Hillary Clinton walked onto the stage at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. In that glitzy theater, on that Thursday evening, the leading contender to be the Democratic candidate for President said she would use the power of government to force many of you to change your religious beliefs.
Hillary Clinton has a clear and consistent program. It is even more radical than that of the President. The current occupant of the White House wants to control how people act. Hillary Clinton wants to control what people believe.
Here is a quote from Clinton’s speech to the Women in the World Summit in New York City.
“Rights have to exist in practice, not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources, and political will. Deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs, and structural biases have to be changed.”
You will notice that Hillary Clinton did not say she would use political discourse to convince people to change their beliefs. She did not say that she would debate the issue of faith in the marketplace of ideas. No, Hillary Clinton said that she would use the coercive power of government to redefine the tenets of religion.
We have seen the beginnings of persecution in America. The political appointees who supervise Obamacare have dictated that many Christian employers must violate their faith by providing abortion services for their employees. The Supreme Court granted a reprieve to closely held family corporations, but those exceptions are limited.
You have read and heard reports from across the country of bakers, florists, photographers, wedding planners and Bed and Breakfast proprietors who have been fined and bankrupted for choosing not to participate in weddings that are contrary to their faith.
That is exactly what Hillary Clinton is talking about. If she becomes President, men and women of Biblical faith will have to change their religious beliefs. Or they will be fined and bankrupted by government.
In her 23-minute talk, Clinton was very specific in naming her targets. They are those who object to abortion, those who protest the funding of Planned Parenthood and those who oppose the gay agenda.
Here is what Hillary Clinton thinks of her targets. In December 2011, in a speech in Geneva Switzerland, she said, the “most challenging issue arises when people cite religious and cultural values as a reason to violate or not protect the human rights of LGBT citizens. These objections are not unlike the justification offered for violent practices towards women like honor killings, widow burning or female genital mutilation.”
Honor Killers. Widow burners. Female mutilators. That is what Hillary Clinton thinks of Americans who hold a Christian world-view.
If you are a Bible-believing Christian, you are imperiled by Hillary Clinton, and by extension, the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton and the Platform of the Democratic Party are mirror images of each other.
Edmund Burke was a Member of Parliament during the years of the American Revolution. He was an articulate supporter of the Colonies as they fought for Independence. One of Edmund Burke’s omniscient quotes is, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Those words should ring in your ears as the Presidential campaign of 2016 begins. My question for you is, will you do nothing?
